The pathway to good mental health

Welcome to Minerva

Counselling, Psychotherapy & Supervision in South Shropshire

Who needs therapy?

We live in challenging times. Sometimes it's hard for us to process the speed with which our planet, our technologies, our global and societal developments are evolving. The effects of these warp speed changes are really beginning to show upon us as individuals and families - and many more of us seem to be struggling with psychological issues than ever before. Sleeplessness, anxiety, depression, burnout, addictions and stress are very common. For this reason, it is vital that we learn to take our mental health as seriously as that of our bodies. Luckily, however, there is plenty we can do - and Minerva counselling is here to help you find a specific solution, one tailored to your own personal needs.

The Approach

Every client who comes to Minerva is assessed and treated in strictest confidence. Some people benefit most from talking therapy which can help them organise their thoughts and work through big life changes or challenges. Others want to learn skills and techniques to help them overcome specific thoughts or patterns of behaviour. Still others wish to find out what Mindfulness is and how practising it can calm the mind and ease the body.  Using a variety (or indeed combination) of approaches gives clients the opportunity to choose how they want to take their own therapy forward, how long they choose to attend and also to discover what really works for them - and all in a warm, supportive environment that values them as  individuals.

How I can help

When we have problems we can't solve on our own, we want to believe that the person we turn to for help will listen carefully, be reasonably experienced and also treat us (and our vulnerabilities) with respect. Knowing that this person also belongs to a recognised professional body like the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists can be a comfort. However, using a BACP member who is Accredited may be even better because it  requires your therapist to have passed through a very rigorous professional assessment process and have gained many hours of experience. I have been Accredited since 2006 and have nearly twenty years and over twelve thousand hours of client work behind me. Clients have ranged in age from 8 to 81 and have brought a vast range of issues with which it has been my privilege to help.
